OSSM Alum Fast Tracks Engineering Degree Due to Credit Transfers

Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering can be a long and daunting process. But for one OSSM graduate, it took only two years to earn his bachelor’s from the University of Oklahoma. He now works as an iOS software developer at Paycom, an Oklahoma City-based company.

Loc Vu graduated from OSSM in 2020 and credits his experience with the school’s college-level curriculum for testing him both in knowledge and skills, especially the classes, “Data Structures,” and Electronic Circuits.”

“These particular classes provided immense difficulty and have tested my patience to no other level, yet I still enjoyed learning,” said Loc. “Out of these course experiences and others, including History of Western Civilization, I was able to take what I’ve learned and adapt and excel with ease in other challenges in university and life in general.”

Additionally, the OSSM course credit transfer to college, along with AP tests and dual enrollment, Loc was credited with 70 hours, which quickly accelerated his studies and allowed him to pursue a research opportunity. He was also able to take unique electives such as “Machine Learning” and “Algorithm Analysis.”

In response to the quality education he received at OSSM at no cost to his family, Loc intends to give back to both the school and the state of Oklahoma.

“We received the privilege to attend and graduate OSSM, then had the privilege of attending university with thousands of dollars in scholarships,” he said. “These opportunities allowed me to pursue further education and exciting career paths.”
